I have written about IWC before in this series. In a previous installment, I expressed my love for the classic IWC Ingenieur that Gérald Genta designed. It’s a watch that I have a stronger personal connection with than most Swiss made replica watches. But IWC has more great classics that deserve a glorious comeback. One of them is the first Aquatimer that the brand ever produced. The IWC Aquatimer ref. 812 was introduced in the late 1960s as the brand’s first diver. Over five decades later, the watch hasn’t lost its attractiveness. It’s time for a new Aquatimer ref. 812.

When IWC introduced the first Aquatimer ref. 812, the brand was pretty late to the diving game. As most of you will know, the brands that pioneered the genre introduced their first dive fake watches for sale over a decade earlier, and various brands introduced their takes in the years that followed. With the rise in popularity of professional and recreational scuba diving, we saw many designs and techniques incorporated into this then-new category of timepieces. It has led to a great variety of great vintage dive watches, and the IWC Aquatimer ref. 812 is certainly one of them.

As soon as you see the first Aquatimer, you know that the brand used the now-famous Super Compressor case for the watch. Nowadays, when people think about dive replica watches wholesale, it’s all about a unidirectional ratcheting bezel with a large diving scale and accompanying markers. But the Super Compressor case, with its characteristic two crowns and internal rotating bezel, represents a different concept and aesthetic that many watch fans love.

The Super Compressor case was patented in 1956 by Ervin Piquerez SA, or EPSA as most people know it. The Swiss company produced the Super Compressor cases for roughly two decades before going out of business in 1975. During that time, many famous brands used the Super Compressor cases in their standard execution. Some brands used modified versions of the case as well. Among them were brands like Universal Genève, Enicar, Hamilton, Longines, Vulcain, and Jaeger-LeCoultre. But the list is a lot longer than that.

Only 2,000 pieces of the first Aquatimer were produced

When IWC introduced the Aquatimer ref. 812, the brand opted for a 37mm Super Compressor case. Just as a little side step, in addition to the ref. 812, you will also see the later ref. 812 AD. In essence, it was the same watch, with the AD referring to “automatic” and the date function. In 1972, when IWC changed its reference system to four-digit model numbers, the watch got reference number 1812. All three are the same AAA UK copy watches that stayed in production until 1982 when it was discontinued. Over 25 years, IWC produced only around 2,000 pieces of the first-generation Aquatimer.

But let’s get back to the watch itself. As I mentioned, the brand chose a 37mm Super Compressor case. It featured the two characteristic crowns embossed with the IWC fish at 2 and 4 o’clock and was water resistant to 200 meters. Most of you will know that the upper of the two screw-down crowns operates the internal diving bezel, while the lower crown is in charge of the time and date. Overall, I love the look of the case, which combines a round shape and straight lugs with the two crowns, giving it lots of character.

Four different dial variations define the Aquanaut’s presence

Speaking of character, IWC produced four different dials for the Aquanaut ref. 812 that make it into the stunner that I adore so much. The first came with a black dial and a black inner bezel, and the second featured a black dial with a silver bezel. The third model came with a white dial and a silver bezel, and the last of the four came with a white dial and a black bezel. The white/silver model is a very rare one, but you can find the other three variations without any problems. Out of the four dials, the two with the combination of black and white or black and silver are my favorite. They give the best replica watches a distinct character and make it into a watch I love.

The prototype that IWC produced actually featured a white dial and a white inner bezel. This one also had the image of a fish on the lower part of the dial. It’s a rather strange thing to see, but the all-white aesthetic made it look good. However, despite its good looks, IWC decided not to go forward with that version. On every production variant, the dials are graced by the applied hour markers and a date window at 3 o’clock. The baton hour and minute hands added an even more modern style to the luxury super clone watches, but the most characterful element is the thin paddle-neck seconds hand with its lume-filled tip. The dials all had a simple but incredibly effective design accompanied by big, straightforward bezel markings with numerals for 15, 30, and 45 minutes. It’s hard to fault the design in any of its executions.

The IWC caliber 8541 powered the Aquatimer 812

Inside the 37mm Super Compressor case, you will find cheap IWC fake watches’ caliber 8541. This self-winding movement featured IWC’s Pellaton winding system. It operated at 19,800vph, had 23 jewels, and provided a 44-hour power reserve. IWC also used the same movement for its Ingenieur ref. 866 models from that same era.

The brand actually made some improvements to the movement and introduced the caliber 8541B just before 1970. This new version featured hacking seconds and used a Grenier-type hairspring collet. IWC used both movements for the Ingenieur and this Aquatimer without distinguishing between them in its archives. It’s a rather curious detail, although it’s not really surprising in the watch world of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Another curious detail is the branding on the dial. You will find first-generation Aquatimers with and without an applied IWC logo. And the Aquatimer was not the only watch that “suffered” from that detail. IWC introduced the applied logo above the script name somewhere in the late ’60s or early ’70s. This is why you will see top replica watches from the same model range with and without it.

The remarkable thing is that IWC had models with and without the applied logo in the same collection, even the same model range. There are examples of the Ingenieur in the same catalog with different dials that do and do not have the applied logo. Generally, it’s hard to say what option you will see more often. In terms of aesthetics, I have a slight preference for the dial without the applied logo. It just looks a bit cleaner. That said, I would not let the presence of the applied logo stop me if I were seriously considering buying one.

Overall, I love the story and looks and the first Aquatimer. As it is the first dive watch that IWC produced, it holds a special place in the history of the brand. This is also why the Aquatimer is still part of the current collection. While there are definitely still elements of the first China fake IWC Aquatimer watches to be found in the current range, the modern versions lack the charm of the vintage models. IWC did, however, produce a modern reissue of the ref. 812. In 2008, the brand released the Vintage Collection that featured the modern IWC ref. 3231.

This modern interpretation of the original ref. 812 saw a dramatic increase in size from 37mm to 44mm wide. The case had a lug-to-lug of 50mm and was 14.5mm thick. If you ask me, this reissue did capture the spirit of the original, but it was too big. Additionally, it came on a rubber/leather strap, whereas the original looks best with a nice beads-of-rice bracelet. It came in a stainless steel version with a black dial and a platinum version with a crisp white dial. Inside the case, IWC chose to equip the piece with the in-house caliber 80111.

Time for a return of the classic IWC ref. 812

While I like the efforts that IWC put into the Vintage Collection, it would be great to see the return of a proper homage to the original. If you would like to get your hands on one of the original IWC Aquatimer ref. 812 models, expect to see asking prices between roughly €10K–20K. These classics certainly do not come cheap, despite being widely overlooked. And frankly, I am not surprised because they are simply great 1:1 fake watches. That’s why the return of this classic in modern form would be something to look forward to.

But the reality of that happening seems slim. While IWC honors the names from the past, the brand sometimes dismisses the designs that made the classics from the ’60s and ’70s such great timepieces. I have said it in my article about the Genta Ingenieur SL1832 “Jumbo,” and the same goes for this Aquatimer; the history is there to make some amazing new versions of some great IWC classics. Until that happens, there is always room to hope that this wish will come true because the perfect replica IWC Aquatimer ref. 812 watches really is that good.

1:1 Cheap Fake Audemars Piguet’s Newest Watches UK Bring The Concept And Offshore Design Closer Together

Among the myriad releases we expect to see from Audemars Piguet this year, few are as anticipated as high quality replica watches made to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Royal Oak Offshore. The Offshore has always stood on its own as the unapologetically burly, often weird, and even sometimes unwieldy sibling of the Royal Oak family. That is until today.

With the announcement of the newest Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph in black ceramic alongside a brand-new Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT, two very wild and intense cheap UK fake watches.

The newest Royal Oak Concept (ROC) is, as all the concepts are, a particular beast representing the brand’s most futuristic watchmaking. Despite the “RD” name of the Research and Development replica watches for sale from recent years, the Concept line has long been the main platform for Audemars Piguet’s R&D experimentation, and the new cutting-edge movement, the selfwinding Calibre 4407, is yet another example. Based on the integrated flyback chronograph movement calibre 4401, launched in a Code 11.59 in 2019, the new movement was modified to combine a flyback chronograph, split seconds, GMT function, and large date at 12 on the dial.

The dial itself is quintessential ROC, with depth and sportiness from the rounded openings cut out from a single German silver plate, finished with sandblasted black PVD and polished rhodium-toned bevels. The hands and hour markers are white gold and the hour-markers, hands, counters, large date, and GMT day/night disc have a luminescent coating. The whole package is finished with red and yellow accents, respectively marking the chronograph and GMT functions for a pop of color.

All this comes in a new 43mm sandblasted titanium case with the Concepts collection’s first interchangeable strap system. And while it’s a massive 17.4mm size, you still have the ergonomics that make the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept copy watches for men both visually compelling and what AP calls  “surprisingly wearable,” albeit obviously very much a statement piece with a statement price of CHF 150,000. Only 150 pieces will be made each year.

The other release isn’t the first Tourbi-Chrono Offshore of its kind, but it comes with a bunch of design decisions that makes it feel more like the quintessential bright and colorful Offshore than previous iterations.

The new release cues from a 2021 Limited Edition offshore – including the caliber 2952 flying tourbillon flyback chronograph movement used in the Code 11.59 in 2020  – and cranks it up a notch. Instead of the previous relatively low-key design and color palette, AAA Audemars Piguet replica watches has gone with a brand new, state-of-the-art ceramic case with anodized green inner bezel and green anodized inner bevels on the bridges supporting the dial and movement architecture on the front. At the rear is a black ceramic caseback, a first for the 43mm Offshore lineup, and glare-proofed sapphire on the back to admire the blackened 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight.

The case is fully hand-finished with satin brushing and hand-polished chamfers. In addition to the flying tourbillon, you have two translucent chronograph counters punctuated by a black ring around each to read your timing measurements while not obstructing too much of the finishing on the movement underneath. Finally, the watch comes on a green rubber strap that matches the dial accents, with a super-slick quick-release system integrated into the case that allows you to switch to a black rubber strap that’s provided with the perfect fake watches.

Still limited to 100 pieces, the newest Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph is a whopping CHF 285,000  and is limited to 100 pieces.

What We Think

Putting aside the new Royal Oak Concept for a moment, I can’t help but think that Audemars Piguet might have just released the watch that will make me finally fall in love with the Offshore, three decades after its initial release.

As a lover of historical Audemars Piguet designs, it’s taken me a long time to come around to the idea of the Offshore. The line of best super clone watches had its moment in the sun with a ton of hype in the early-aughts long before the “Jumbo” came back in vogue, but I never really understood why. Meanwhile the Concept, for whatever reason, was something that I could easily put in its own space. It’s a watch for experimentation – a cool and dramatic-looking hypercar that you might see in pictures only.

I could talk all day about AP’s vintage ultra-thin dress China replica watches, the 13 ligne movements, or their ultra-thin perpetual calendars – not to mention the iconic design of the Royal Oak. All of these designs were about balance and harmony. But – and maybe I’m stretching to hope I have anything in common with the late, great Gérald Genta who famously accused the Offshore’s designer Emmanuel Gueit of ruining Genta’s work on the Royal Oak– the “Méga Tapisserie” dials and bulbous numerals make me feel like someone selected the dial in Microsoft Word and then changed the font to Comic Sans. Sure, the watch was made to stand out  for the sake of standing out, but is that all it could be?

There have been flashes of brilliance – 2021’s Offshore Diver Khaki was a personal favorite, as is the audacity to make a Grande Complication skeleton Offshore with a hilarious “don’t you dare take me into heavy rain” 20m water resistance for an Offshore – but nothing ever struck home for me. But it was a winning formula for AP, a blessing and a curse that has proven hard to break over the years.

This feels like the moment the Offshore grew into its own.

Part of growing up means knowing where you’ve come from and acknowledging your influences while realizing that you don’t have to be wildly weird to be special. The fingerprints of Audemars Piguet’s past and present are all over this new 2023 fake watches in a smart way, with just the right hint of what the Offshore has always been – a little (or a lot) quirky.

Sure, the Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph technically existed in the catalog, but no one ever said the first iteration of anything has to be the best.

The 2021 release of the same Calibre 2967 in a 43mm grade 5 titanium case unified the Code 11.59 and Offshore lineups based on movement. The design, on the other hand, felt far more like a Royal Oak Concept, with a three-dimensional open-worked architecture in lieu of a dial. The movement, gears, and one-minute tourbillon were all front and center, with the bridges that make up the dial adding even more depth and it was – in theory – a cool design. It was almost there.

But what it didn’t do, in my eyes, was tell me it was an Offshore.  Once AP had taken away everything I thought I disliked about the Offshore, I realized that a lot of those things were what kept the best quality replica watches from bordering on milquetoast, or as much as any mondo 43mm-by-15.5mm, intensely overengineered, otherwise iconic diver could ever be.

Turns out all you need is a splash of color to bring the Offshore back to its quirky self and hit the sweet spot. The contrast of color between the new black ceramic case – an emerging icon in its own right and a callback of sorts to the ever-popular mainline Royal Oaks – and matching blackened PVD-coated titanium bridges with silver chamfers against the vivid green anodized aluminum insert and rose gold hands feels much bolder and Offshore-y than before. The titanium crown guards now contrast nicely against the ceramic pushers and screw-down crown. You get a touch of near-military-inspired coloration that borders on shouting “I’m tough” with a little more vibrancy that says “but actually I’m fun” and serves to celebrate all these other unifying factors by drawing your eye.

Meanwhile, AP calls the size of the Concept “generous” and I think that word might be generously kind in and of itself. But that’s what the Concept is meant to be. Look at any other brand making hyper-sporty and futuristic fake watches site and then consider the price here, 150,00 CHF.  It’s an insane amount of money, but less insane than what anyone else is asking, which makes it a bargain by comparison for what is still an incredible watch.

The Concept is like a Koenigsegg for the wrist. It’s a super-sleek beast of a watch that looks fast and powerful and with an engine that feels like IT could rocket you to the moon. Being able to see the split-seconds mechanism which has been inserted within the ball bearing holding the oscillating weight is yet another treat. Why would you want technical achievement you can’t even see to appreciate?

But a lot of the draw of the Concept comes from the holistic design language. Light on the wrist but burly in design with its sandblasted titanium, a futuristic two-toned dial, and wild movement, this new Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT is intensely cool. Not much more can be said. I just hope this might be the year I get to see one in person.

But one watch of the set might be the biggest feat because, for the first time in recent memory, I find myself thinking again about the newest Offshore Tourbi-Chrono saying – and truly meaning – “I hope I get to see this Offshore in person.” If this is where the Offshore’s 30th Anniversary is starting, we’re in for a wild 2023.

I mean, an essential part of what journalists do is bring news (that is, stuff that you hadn’t heard of before) to your attention, so I feel like that fourth question is kind of moot. Now, this goes against everything we know about the optimal functioning of a balance wheel. We’re told — it’s drilled into our understanding of watchmaking’s fundamental principles — that the ideal balance amplitude lies between 270° and 320°. Any less, and the regulating organ becomes prone to error; any more and the problem known as “knocking” starts to present itself, interfering with the optimal function of the regulating organ. (For the nerds among us, “knocking” describes the phenomenon where the impulse pin comes into contact with the outer surface of the pallet fork, interfering with the smooth operation of the balance and diminishing the chronometric ability of the perfect replica watches.)

At this juncture, we find ourselves at the periphery of an extremely convoluted problem, and you can skip the next two paragraphs if the technical side of watchmaking doesn’t interest you. The maximum amplitude achieved by a balance has two constraints, energy and geometry. If the impulse pin is struck with sufficient force, the balance is able to rotate further and thus exhibit larger amplitudes — that’s just common sense. Past a certain point, however, even if you keep increasing the force applied to the impulse pin, the balance amplitude remains the same — the balance can’t rotate any further because it is physically stopped by the pallet fork.

If you want to further increase the maximum amplitude of the balance, you have to increase its angle of lift, which is generally frowned upon, because it messes with the isochronism. Given the additional stability that is afforded by the increased amplitude, however, that may be an advantage worth trading for. In general, the operation of the escapement itself causes the high quality fake watches to lose anyway. It can’t be helped, as this loss is inherent to the mechanism — a built-in cost, we might say. The lower the amplitude, the greater the loss, and that’s before we’ve even factored in the increased vulnerability of a low-amplitude balance.
